Priyanka learns a new art

Most know that actress Priyanka Chopra is playing bodyguard to Abhishek Bachchan in the film Drona, and that she went to Punjab specially to learn the Sikh martial arts for the movie.

Sounds impressive already.

Friday saw the 63rd birthday of Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra. But it turned out to be some celebration when a riot broke out in his constituency Latur over Bollywood babe Priyanka Chopra.

Apparently, Vilasrao’s son Amit along with a local organization had invited Priyanka to give out prizes for a cricket tournament held in honor of the chief minister. But things turned haywire when the crowd became unruly on seeing Priyanka and wanted to get a closer look of the actress.

However, there was a speculation that the movie will star her favorite actress Madhuri Dixit. But now Saroj Khan has cleared all speculation that Sati…a burning desire to love is not meant for Madhuri rather she does not deserve the role. Continue reading ‘Priyanka in Saroj Khan’s First Film’

While Vilasrao Deshmukh, the Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra, was away to Goa celebrating his birthday, his son Amit and friends held a cricket tournament in Latur, his hometown, to commemorate the event! And who do you think was invited to Latur to be the chief guest? None other than Bollywood spice-girl Priyanka Chopra says Bombay Times.

Priyanka, going to this hot, sun-scorched part of the state on a May afternoon, arrived three hours late! This caused a mini riot in the sleepy town where eager locals lost their patience and ran amuck.

Instead of Happy Birthday ditties, the crowds shouted slogans condemning the star’s very late appearance at the show and became somewhat uncontrollable. The police had to resort to a lathi charge, which enraged the crowd so much, that they threw items of footwear and pelted stones at the police thereby injuring many onlookers and some policemen. There just doesn’t seem to be a Bollywood leading lady around that blends success, talent and sex appeal to heady levels in the vein of Madhubala, Rekha and Madhuri Dixit.

Kajol had high levels of all three but didn’t remain unmarried long enough for a place in the dubious hall of fame. The loss of the male Indian cinemagoer is the gain of Ajay Devgan.

Aishwarya’s success and striking good looks were negated to a large extent by an abject lack of talent, despite her long innings as an unattached single leading lady. Continue reading ‘Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan contenders for Bollywood Queen Bee title’

Apart from setting the screen ablaze, Priyanka is well-informed, well-read and socially aware of her surroundings and makes no bones in drawing attention to issues such as education, female infanticide and foeticide that inspire her.

If you thought you’d seen all of Priyanka on screen, think again - she is much more than a mere pretty face. In this interview Priyanka reveals her political thoughts and social leanings as flamboyantly as her on-screen acting.

What are the social issues you feel strongly about?
I feel strongly about many things but the most important are educating the girl child and female infanticide and foeticide.

I think it is extremely important to educate the girl child in our country. It is time that people realised that a girl can, is and will be stronger than boys. It is very important that a girl is educated and is self dependent. Only then will she be able to raise a better family and in turn a better society. A lot is known about Priyanka Chopra’s beautiful voice. Remember the time when she crooned just one line Right Here Right Now for a song of the same title in Bluffmaster, or the time she sang Tinka Tinka on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, or the time she sang Yeh Mera Dil on KBC 3.

Now she will be heard singing once again but it won’t be impromptu or for a movie but for an ad jingle for a soap of which she is the brand ambassador.

According to her it is a melodious narration of a poem with background music. Since it sounded interesting it didn’t take time for her to get convinced to lend her vocal chords. Continue reading ‘Priyanka Chopra to Lend Voice for Soap Jingle’
