What better it could be than to cheer the Indian cricketers in the field and at the same time promoting ones forthcoming film.

Superstar Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra did exactly the same thing on Sunday morning when they took a train ride from New Delhi to Jaipur to support the eleven Indian players playing against England in the ICC Champions trophy.

As part of Pepsi’s “Blue Billion Express” campaign both superstars spoke more about their forthcoming film Don than about their love for cricket. Blame it on the commerce.

Don, a remake of the 70’s hit movie of the same name that featured legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan is going to hit theatres this coming Friday and has already generated a lot of curiosity and excitement in the movie trade business.

Priyanka Chopra, a former Miss World is Khan’s co-star in the forthcoming movie.

“Don has the Hollywood touch. Its dialogue is Farhan’s creative work, in spite that the storyline remains same,” said King Khan.

For the cricket lovers he said, “All of us are behaving like fans and like the fans we are traveling to support our country so that they win this cup and the World Cup.”

Meanwhile, cricket fans or Shahrukh’s fans who were there in the train in large numbers got their faces and arms painted with Indian tricolor and blue color as they took to the venue to boost the morale of the team and prayed for India’s victory.

Priyanka expressing that how lucky she felt to fit into the role that was played by glamorous Zeenat Aman in the earlier avatar of Don, said that she was equally feeling excited to watch a live match in the stadium.

“…Going to watch this match live, everything is very new to me. So, I am truly a professional fan today and I am really excited doing the part,” she said. (ANI)

Bollywood superstar and Pepsi’s brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan boarded Pepsi’s ‘Blue Billion Express’ train here Sunday to cheer the Indian cricket team while it takes on England at the ICC Champions Trophy match at the Sawai Man Singh cricket stadium in Jaipur.

Shah Rukh, who took a ride on a train after seven years, was accompanied by his ‘Don’ co-star Priyanka Chopra, who also endorses Pepsi.

The 11-bogey special train done up in blue and white with a catchline that resonates through all of Pepsi’s ad campaigns - ‘Oooooh Aaaaah India, Aaaaah Yaaaaa India!’ - written on it chugged out of Delhi’s Safdarjang station early Sunday with about a 100 cricket fans. Starry Line-up

SHE’S been slipping into their creations - both on and off screen - for a while now. Trendy, chic and very “precise in fit” is the reason why city’s actor going places Kulraj Randhawa (Kareena Kareena, Mahi Ve to now the Punjabi film Mannat) says she’s chosen Adara outfits. The label comes from the stable of designers Priyanka Choksi and Pooja Chhabria, Mumbai-based designers who have worked with Bollywood designer Vikram Phadnis. “Pooja’s designed clothes for actors like Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan and also for films like Waqt, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Kyun ho gaya naa, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. She’s also designed for the TV serial Thodi Khushi Thode Gam,'’ mentions Kulraj who further lists out designer Priyanka’s credentials. “These two designers are well known in Mumbai for the ensembles that they dish out for the glitterati. In fact, Priyanka designed all my outfits for the show Kareena Kareena and has since then been a favourite with me,” says Kulraj, who is in town to launch the designer label in the form of a three-day exhibition.

The potpourri of ensembles comprises mostly Indo-Western cuts combined with Indian embroideries. “The reason why I decided to promote the label is because I have been wearing their creations and like the fact that they are tastefully designed. It’s very stylish in design, a classic blend of threads of styles,” Kulraj tells us. The vibrant collection packs in a bridal and occasion wear as well with kurtis, skirts, sarees, corsets, stylised blouses making part of the collection. “We intend on taking Adara to the overseas market, specially to the United Kingdom, Canada, Dubai and the US,'’ mentions Randhawa who for the moment brings the designer label only through an exhibition. “We are also open to taking orders. I need to test the market before deciding on the store,” wrapped up our girl.

The exhibition is on at SCO 216, Sector 36-D till October 16.

Bollywood’s busiest and hottest newcomer, Priyanka Chopra, gets ready for her first film with Shah Rukh Kkhan - “DON”.

Priyanka Chopra is going through the most exciting phase of her career. The year started with the super hit “Krrish” - with super star Hirthik Roshan. Even though there is nothing to write about “Aap Ki Khatir” she is back with one of the most anticipated films of 2006 “DON” sharing the screen with the King - SRK. Then in the pipeline there is Nikhil Advani’s multi-starrier “Salaam-E-Ishq: A Tribute to Love” with Salman Khan,Anil Kapoor,Juhi Chawla,Akshaye Khanna,Ayesha Takia,John Abraham,Vidya Balan,Govinda, Sohail Khan and Perizaad Zorabian.

Priyanka talks about “DON” and her experience in working with Shah Rukh Khan.

How excited are you about the release of ‘Don’?

Of course, I’m extremely excited and looking forward to the release! It’s among the biggest films of my career and my first with Shah Rukh! Everyone’s looking forward to watching it and it’s worked out beautifully. I’ve had a great time working with such a talented bunch of people like Shah Rukh, Ritesh (Sidhwani) and Farhan (Akhtar) and learnt a lot. I cherish every moment of ‘Don’.

Recently there was a rumour that you were unhappy about sharing poster space with Kareena Kapoor and Ishaa Koppikar, who’ve also been given a lot of prominence in ‘Don’. Comment.

(Laughs) I’ve become a favourite with rumour mongers! First they said that I had committed suicide when I was in Adelaide with my aunt! Then someone said that I had been throwing attitude on the sets of another film. Later I heard that I was apparently angry because I had to share the promotional campaign of ‘Don’ with Kareena and Ishaa. How do you expect me to react? I’ve been out of India for nearly three months on work. I’ve been living out of a suitcase! Just because I haven’t been in Mumbai for long, people are busy creating controversies. Why would I be insecure of Kareena and Ishaa? I’ve worked with Kareena in ‘Aitraaz’ before and we got along well. In fact, she adds to the star set-up of ‘Don’. Even Ishaa has done very well in the film. I want to put these baseless rumours to rest once and for all!

Was it difficult to play Zeenat Aman’s character in ‘Don’?

That was never my objective. I would never want to imitate Roma the way Zeenat ji did it. People would start comparing us and I would fall short of expectations! (Smiles) I was conscious all through that I had to essay the character of Roma in my own look, way and style. The Roma of the earlier ‘Don’ is different from the Roma of the contemporary one. I play a martial arts expert in the film and have actually done all the stunts myself! No body double has been used! I had to execute really high kicks! (Laughs) ‘Don’ will show me in a completely new ‘avatar’.

Tell us about some of the stunts in ‘Don’?

I have some great stunts in ‘Don’ and went through intensive training for nearly six months. I’ve never been so physically involved in a role.

How different is the new ‘Don’ from the old one?

‘Don’ was a cult film of its time. Farhan (Akhtar) has given the new ‘Don’ his own interpretation and perspective. It is more young, cool, contemporary and slick, if you know what I mean. Even the characters have been very differently etched and enacted. I won’t reveal much but there are some interesting changes in the storyline as well!

You said you’ve looked up to Shah Rukh as a kid. And now you’ve actually worked with him. Describe the experience.

I’m at a loss of words to describe how I felt on hearing that I’d be working with Shah Rukh. He is among the most gifted, passionate and hardworking actors, which is why he is where he is today. I’ve always wondered where he gets his energy supply from! (Laughs) He is always teeming with life and keeps everyone on their toes. He is so involved in the film and participates on every aspect of it. Farhan (Akhtar) and Shah Rukh would be in a constant discussion mode. It’s so inspirational to work with an actor and human being like him! He’s always teaching you something or the other.

Tell us something about Shah Rukh we don’t know!

He is a hardcore gamer! He loves video games!

He is a hot property among women but Arjun Rampal prefers to disagree. Not even the sexiest and the hottest sirens from Bollywood have impressed the hunk to give up on his wife Mehr Jesia. Rampal wants to be a one-woman man.

But he has worked with the most beautiful Indian women, so doesn’t he get distracted? “Why should I? My wife is far more beautiful than these skinny women from Bollywood! They are of no match to her - Be it her beauty or glamour or anything else, no actress will ever stand in comparison to my wife, whether it’s Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra or Aishwarya Rai. So if I have the best from the glam world at home, there is no reason I should get distracted,” says Rampal.
“My wife is far beautiful than skimpy B’wood women,” says Arjun Continue reading ‘‘Priyanka, Ash no match to my wife’’

Box office battle lines drawn

Bollywood’s box office battlelines have been drawn and on October 20, Sajid Nadiadwala and Shirish Kunder’s Jaan-e-Mann will take on Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Don.

Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta will take the red corner and Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Rampal will take the blue corner. And each team has a taut game plan to win the fight.

It began as way back as Ganpati when producers Sidhwani and Akhtar released the music of Don a day before the 11-day festival.
