Every girl dreams of becoming a Bollywood actress one day. Now I am one step closer to fulfilling my dream,” gushes Rishita Monga, 20, the fair and conventionally pretty winner of a reality dance show on MTV, iSuperstar. The winner bags a chance to be cast in a movie produced by Percept Picture Company, opposite a leading Bollywood star.

Contestants were selected in pairs to portray a Bollywood star and dance to a particular track from their movie. Monga, who played the role of Priyanka Chopra, danced to a track from Bluff Master. This graduate in commerce from Delhi University is still awestruck on how she won a contest she had no intention of joining. “I was dragged into the auditions by friends and I had to act like Kareena Kapoor and dance to a number from one of her movies. I just went there and had fun. But in the end I was selected and was given the role of Priyanka Chopra… I would have preferred to be Kareena,” she smiles.

Though it is not yet decided which movie she will be cast in, Monga is keeping her fingers crossed that she might star in a movie opposite Abhishek Bachchan. “I will have a screen test in Mumbai next month, which lasts two days. Based on that I will be told whether I have been selected for the movie or not,” explains Monga, a tad nervous about the audition.

About surviving reality TV with its regular doses of nastiness, competition and stress, Monga feels she had an advantage because she loves to dance. “Basically, I needed loads of attitude and confidence. The choreographer, Ahmed Khan, assisted me and calmed my frayed nerves,” says Monga.

Her parents, based in Delhi, were apprehensive at first, but are now encouraging her to take up acting in Bollywood. “I have already lived the life of a star for four days on the show when I was treated like Priyanka Chopra. So I know what a star’s life is like. I will give acting my best shot and see how things work out. Otherwise I will return to studies and pursue MBA,” smiles Monga pragmatically. Plan B will have to wait just a little longer.
