Indian Independence day with Jai Jawan on NDTV. Priyanka Chopra, the reigning queen of Indian cinema celebrates the spirit of the 60th year of Indian Independence with the Jawans of Indian Army for a specially conceived and conceptualised show – Jai Jawan by NDTV.

Priyanka Chopra visited army camps at Tenga, Tejpur near the Assam and Arunachal Pradesh border and interacted with Jawans at the border and also tried her hand on some of the practices that the Jawans undergo during their training session.

“I feel lucky to be a part of independent India. By independent we have freedom of choice speech and the independence to dream and actually dream and actually achieve. The freedom to be who and what we want.

I salute our forefathers who has given us this chance”, said, Priyanka Chopra. She further added, “I had great time at Jai Jawan.

Never thought it would be as nostalgic as it was. I went through emotions in the duration of those two days. Its something I’Il cherish for a long time.

The most special moment was at the bonfire …hanging around with them, chatting about their experience”. On the earnest request of the Jawans, Priyanka also sang some soul stirring songs on freedom from Hindi classic movies.

Her favourite of all is “Kar chale hum fida jaan aur tan saathiyo, abb tumhare hawale watan saathiyo”. While traveling back from Tenga, Priyanka was caught in a traffic snarl due to flash floods and mudslides triggered by the heavy monsoons in the north-east.

She was left helpless in her car for six hours at a stretch, after which she spent another four hours at an army camp.

Once inside the camp, Priyanka kept her calm and the actress chose not to relax and instead chatted up with the army officers about ways to handle such crises.
