How Priyanka Chopra avoided Akshay Kumar

Mumbai: During the shooting of Aitraaz in 2003, they were reportedly dating each other. After that, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have never met eye to eye in the last four years after they acted together in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Waqt. It was also repoorted that Akki had even vowed to his family that he would never work with Priyanka again as rumour mills churned out stories of their romance that in turn was jeopardising his relationship with wife Twinkle Khanna.

However, After Hrs has learnt from industry sources that the duo was almost about to bump into each other at a private party thrown by boxer Vijender Singh but Priyanka suddenly bowed out of it. It is being gossiped that she got to know that Akki was the special guest of the night and didn’t want to be in an awkward situation.

“Vijender is quite smitten by Priyanka and when they met on the sets of a TV show, he had casually told the actor that he would like to throw a party and wanted Priyanka to come. She in turn as a matter of courtesy must have said she would definitely try coming. So, when the guest list was drawn Akshay was the special guest as he is Vijender’s mentor and the boxer respects him a lot. Vijender is doing a Bollywood film and Akki is guiding him for that,” the informer revealed, adding: “Priyanka cancelled last minute. However, the party plan wasn’t shelved by Vijender as Akki and he bonded big time.”

When contacted Vijender confirmed: “Akshay is like my big brother, my guardian angel and I keep throwing parties for him. I had indeed thrown a party where he was the special guest. I have met Priyanka at a shoot and we gelled well and I intended to have dinner with her by inviting her to this party but things did not work out in the end. I will invite her again some other time.”

Meanwhile, Priyanka could not be contacted for a comment but her spokesperson told us that when Vijender had thrown a party and invited people over she was in Bangkok for her film shooting.
